This is a place where users can communicate with administrators, or administrators with one another. You can report vandalism, problematic users, or anything else that needs an administrator's intervention. Do not report child pornography or other potentially illegal content here; e-mail legal-reportswikimedia.org instead. If reporting threatened harm to self or others also email emergencywikimedia.org.

Report users for clear cases of vandalism. Block requests for any other reason should be reported to the blocks and protections noticeboard.	Report disputes with users that require administrator assistance. Further steps are listed at resolve disputes.	Reports that do not suit the vandalism noticeboard may be reported here. Requests for page protection/unprotection could also be requested here.	Other reports that require administrator assistance which do not fit in any of the previous three noticeboards may be reported here. Requests for history merging or splitting should be filed at COM:HMS.

Protect POTY 2024 from vandalism

Dear administrators,

POTY 2024 is starting in approximately 24 hours. CentralNotice banners will be placed on all wikis with a link to POTY which usually drives huge trafic on POTY pages. Last year multiple POTY 2023 pages were repeatedly vandalized including the contest main page (see this history for examples) until they got protected. I think this time it could be nice to protect the pages before they get vandalized. Here are some pages that should be protected:

And all galleries accessible from the gallery page.

@Giles Laurent: is there some reason you took perfectly clear internal links and recaptioned each of them to make it, more confusingly, a URL? Do you mind if I (or someone) remove those link captions here? - Jmabel ! talk 21:18, 13 September 2025 (UTC)Reply
@Jmabel: All those links are publicly shared in the Picture of the Year talk page, they are not secret and it's already been like that in 2023. There was also a request for protecting all those links in the 2023 POTY edition which was granted. I just made links for making administrators job easier to protect the page. There was no problem with these links being asked for protection in 2023, I don't see why it would now in 2024. Anyway if you think it's wiser to delete the links from this page you can (but I don't see the point because they are no secret) but most importantly I think the pages should be protected. I have changed the URLs to internal links. I think there is a bit of misunderstanding here, I think Jmabel was asking why you decided to use URLs (e.g. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Picture_of_the_Year/2024) instead of internal links (e.g. Commons:Picture of the Year/2024). Agree, please protect at least the main page. Reason for reporting: Apparently a sockpuppet (Category:Sockpuppets of Saranphat chaiphet) created for block evasion, because (1) the user uploaded copyvio files related to Nan province, which are exactly the same files as those uploaded by the socks in the mentioned category, and (2) the username is similar to those in the mentioned category, such as Oh-2532 (talk · contribs), which indicates their relationship.
