A little more green is good!

Here at greenskin media we are always looking at ways to further reduce our carbon footprint, and with all that practice and knowledge we thought we’d share it with you...
A greener workplace can mean a lighter earthly footprint, a healthier, supportive and more productive workplace, and good business news for the bottom line... From the moment you start your journey (and we would recommend the bus or car pooling) to work, to when you start your journey back, you have contributed to your business or employee’s carbon footprint… just think about it!
There are a number of ways that you can make a difference at your workplace, or your own business…
The following actions can have a very big impact on reducing your carbon footprint for your own business, or the business you are working for:
Go digital:
Doesn't it seem strange that in the “digital age” we are still consuming enormous amounts of bleached tree pulp, most of which gets used once or twice and then tossed to landfill or recycled… but even recycling paper uses a large amount of energy and resources!
- review your documents onscreen
- keep your files on the computer instead of filing cabinets
- backup your files and documents on CD/DVD instead of printing it
- use pdfs instead of printed documents
- if you need to print use 100% post-consumer recycled paper
- when printing on paper, use both sides where appropriate
- use advance software like greenprint to reduce unnecessary printing
- send emails instead of letters
- conference call (for example, skype) instead of travelling
- switch off computers (and its peripherals) when not in use
- invest into greener lighting to further reduce your energy consumption
- once you have reduced as much as you can, look into carbon offsetting

Ok, the authorities have noticed, and are now getting serious...
The Australian government has issued a security warning to all Microsoft Internet Explore users, and have requested that all users look for an alternative browser to prevent their computer system from being hacked and/or compromised.

Us web designers, and here at greenskin media, have been very busy informing our clients to just stay clear of the Microsoft browser - Internet Explore (IE), especially IE6.
And for us it has just been a nightmare to have your website working properly in IE6!
But finally, the end is very near!
... And there is life after IE.
There are many free alternative browser that you can download... here is just a few:
- Safari for Windows
- Firefox
- Chrome
- Flock
- Opera
